| Getting in touch with her inner child By NATASHA STOYNOFF Toronto Sun LOVE'S FULL CIRCLE: One of the many raw, painful scenes in the Canadian film Babyface shows actress Lenore Zann slumped in the kitchen corner, wailing, "Nobody loves me! Nobody loves me!" It's a dark, desperate moment that Zann, who plays the threatened mom in this Lolita-like drama, understands from all sides of the tangled love triangle. "At first, I really related to the daughter role," says Zann, "I had a love-hate relationship with my mother. I was daddy's little girl --a cute little blond precocious girl. My mother was only 19 when she had me, and I took all the attention away from her. "I used to tell my dad, 'When I grow up, I'm going to marry you!' He'd laugh, and say, 'What about mom?' And I'd say, 'She can stick around and clean the house.' " Babyface's mother-daughter-lover story follows "a little girl becoming a woman, and a woman who is still very much a little girl," explains Zann. At its core, she stresses, is the most basic of human needs: "All three desperately want to be loved." In preparation for the emotionally exhausting role, Zann did some work on her own inner child with some re-birthing sessions off the coast of Vancouver on Bowen Island. "They took me back to being a baby in a semi-hypnotic state," she says. "I really let out a lot of anger and fear. "By the time of filming, I was healthy and complete. All my emotional holes had been filled up. I could go into this heavy, dark world and come out smiling." After the shoot, Zann skipped off to Nova Scotia for a little meditation, and decided to "take the wall down from around my heart". The next day, on Christmas Eve, she bumped into an old buddy from high school, and "fell madly in love, and got married six months later." In true spiritual form, they tied the knot barefoot in Zann's Toronto backyard, surrounded by a circle of rose petals, directed by the High Priestess of the Wiccan Church of Canada. As a symbol of the couple's bond, their wrists were bound together with thick ribbon, not to be removed until they consummated the marriage. Zann says that she and her brand new hubby, Dennis, slipped away from the party during the buffet. "Brent Carver arrived, looked around, and asked, 'Where are they?' " says Zann, laughing. "Everybody told him, 'Oh, they're just busy downstairs, consummating the marriage.' " CHICAGO, CHICAGO: It's Sammy's kinda town. No, not Frankie's Sammy, but Samuel L. Jackson, of the Pulp Fiction Rat Pack, who did time in the Windy City last fall to shoot The Negotiator before the winds turned to snow. "We beat out the winter," says Jackson, recently at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, "and I played a lot of golf. I love Chicago. It's got great restaurants and the people are really cool.
