| Preston was born and raised in Hawaii. As a result of her father's position with an agricultural firm, the family moved first to Iraq for one year and then to Australia for two years. It was while she was a teenager in Hawaii that Preston appeared in television commercials and began to develop an interest in an acting career. Upon graduating from high school, Preston relocated to Los Angeles and enrolled at the University of Southern California where she studied drama and theater. She eventually transferred to the University of California at Los Angeles where she decided to pursue acting seriously. She would soon win her very first audition. Preston made her feature film debut with a well-received role in the hit motion picture comedy, Twins (1988), opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. Preston received rave reviews opposite Tom Cruise in the box office hit Jerry Maguire (1996) as Avery, Maguire's ambitious and aggressive fiancee. The picture was written and directed by Cameron Crowe. She was also seen in a pivotal role in the critically-acclaimed motion picture Citizen Ruth (1996). On television, Preston starred in Arthur Miller's American Clock, The (1993) (TV) for TNT. She has also been featured in numerous other television programs, including both daytime and prime time drama series. Spouse: John Travolta (12 September 1991 - present); 1 son, 1 daughter Kevin Gage (? - 1987) (divorced) Trivia: (3 April 2000) Her second child with John Travolta, daughter Ella Bleu was born, weighing in at 4.08 kilos (nine pounds). Was turned down for the role of Emmeline in Blue Lagoon, The (1980). This was Preston's first film audition. The part went to Brooke Shields. She lived with Charlie Sheen from 1989-90. She was accidentally shot in their apartment in 1990. Once dated George Clooney. Graduated from Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii. Studied acting at The Beverly Hills Playhouse with Milton Katselas. Her biological father's last name was Smith. He and her mother Carol were divorced soon after Kelly's birth. Kelly was adopted by her mother's second husband, Peter Palzis. She has a younger brother Christopher Palzis. Her son with Travolta is named Jett. She lived with George Clooney until he broke off their relationship to go back to an old girlfriend. Kelly and George had a pet pig, it was a Vietnamese Pot Bellied Pig. Kelly met her first husband Kevin Gage when she was cast in the movie SpaceCamp (1986) with him.
