Malú already has three discs with only 19 years. Malú is one of those few young people who are able to make race in the world of music. She is a daughter of Pepe de Lucia and niece of Alpaca of Lucia. Maria Lucia Sanchez was born the 15 of March of 1982 in Madrid. They called her Malú because her aunt said that Maria Lucia was a too long name for a so small girl. Her musical race began when she was 15, when the producer Jesus Yanes heard her singing. Malú recorded her first disc between the January and February of 1998. The disc was titled "Apprentice", with great aid on the part of the brilliant Alexander Sanz. 400,000 copies of "Apprentice" were sold and it stayed in the official list of AFYVE sales during 28 weeks. In 1998, Malú obtained the Best Artist Revelation Award, and also the Best Female Artist. After her first album she made an important tour in Spain and Latin America and signed a contract with Walt Dysney Record to perform "Reflected", the leading song in the cartoon film "Mulan". After "Apprentice", in 1999, apppeared "You will change", a disc in which, according to her, the essential difference is the voice; "I have much more mature voice." The album scored a number thirteen directly on the list AFYVE and in only ten days it had sold one hundred thousand! |
