GORGEOUS Philippa Lett shocked the world as a 17-year-old by putting a £72,000 modelling contract on hold - so she could stay at school. Philippa is still globe-trotting after a decade in the business, carrying out modelling contracts and shooting commercials for telly and magazines, including the hugely popular Sisters of Murphy ad for the Irish stout. There's also a secret TV deal in the offing, which could see her in front of millions on our screens in the New Year. She's come a long way since, as a teenager studying her A-levels, she beat 200,000 other young girls to triumph in the English heat, finally coming second in the Look of the Year competition. And she's even getting her face known in the world of business, by opening a restaurant, called Saints, with her boyfriend Carl Jobe. "He and our other partner have the business brains," says Philippa. "I just go up at weekends and help out when I can. The restaurant, in Birmingham's St Paul's Square, is not strictly Philippa's first business venture. Carl, 32, also owns a nightclub in the city and a clothes shop which she does the buying for. "We work so well together and wanted to do something different," she says - referring to the restaurant they opened in the summer. "Both Carl and our other partner are pretty damn good when it comes to business, and I love food, so it seemed like a good match." Suddenly Philippa turns into a marketing machine when she's asked to comment on the restaurant, which she describes as "modern European with a twist". "It's so fantastic that even we can't get a table there at weekends," she laughs. "If we want to eat there we have our food served in the office!' Her enthusiasm for her work is typical of the model who is currently teasing First Line Ericsson mobile phone users in a cheeky telly and magazine ad. "They are my boobs," she declares proudly. "That was probably the most fun I've ever had, shooting that commercial. They were such a good crew to work with, we all had a real laugh." In fact work is only ever rivalled by the love of her life, 32-year-old Carl. "He's desperately handsome," she gushes. "6ft 5in, green eyes, black hair - he's just gorgeous." Although the pair have been together for three years, they've spent most of it travelling between London - where Philippa's modelling career has been based - and her home town of Birmingham, where Carl's businesses are. "I've known Carl for about 10 years now," says Philippa. "We met during one of my trips home to see my family and friends. "I went to his nightclub and bumped into this sexy man and we were both stuck for words. But we developed a really good friendship and that gradually developed. He's definitely my best friend." Philippa says the pair are even talking about getting married next year, though she admits she's "a little afraid of the marriage thing".
